Soil characterisation sampling and testing

Purpose of survey

To analyse if the samples of spoil are hazardous or non-hazardous for the purposes of off-site disposals.

When should you consider carrying out soil characterisation sampling and testing?

  • Where future drainage works will generate spoil arising that need to be disposed of off-site
  • In association with surveying the inventory and condition of the drainage assets

Features of this survey include

  • The samples are to be taken within 24 hours to UKAS/MCERTS accredited testing laboratory to carry out characterisation of chemical test results of each sample in accordance with Technical Guidance WM3.
  • All technicians are trained to BS 10175 and BS 5930 requirements.

Reporting

 A digital data and PDF report of test results and characterisation will be produced for upload to DDMS as for the requirements listed in CS 551.
