Health and Safety Officer

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Health and Safety Officer to join our friendly team based at our Head Office in Wolverhampton.

The ideal candidate must have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, whilst maintaining the highest level of accuracy. We are looking for a strong team player who has a proven background within a Health & Safety role.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Compliance Director and the main duties will include;

  • Organising and promoting a positive H&S culture and securing the effective implementation of H&S policies
  • Helping to develop and implement the Health & Safety policy
  • Working proactively with Directors and Managers to ensure all policies are being adhered to
  • Liaising with Managers and staff regarding H&S matters, offering advice and assistance when required
  • Undertaking risk assessments and reviews, including but not limited to COSHH, Environmental impact and Manual Handling and develop safe systems of work
  • Completing questionnaires and Health and Safety packs for new and potential customers and organisations as appropriate
  • Drafting Risk Assessment and Method Statement document for tender submission
  • Monitoring all H&S across a multi-site organisation, ensuring that the company remains compliant with legislation
  • Managing a comprehensive training matrix for all employees to ensure identified training needs are met
  • Maintaining the company’s ISO 45001 standard, ensuring compliance with the standards and with relevant legislation
  • Completing regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with HSE requirements and drawing  up corrective action plans to address identified non-compliances
  • Investigating all accidents, near misses and completing future preventative actions
  • Recommending solutions to issues, identifying improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Managing Health and Safety related accreditations – including SSIP, Constructionline
  • Taking responsibility for ensuring all Sub-Contractors information is up to date and complies with all our requirements

Essential Criteria

  • 2 years’ recent experience in a Health and Safety role
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO45001:2018 and ISO14001: 2015
  • Be articulate, possess excellent IT and communication skills and work well under pressure
    Commitment to working as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of CDM (as Principal Contractor and Contractor)
