Time to change

At DDC, health, safety, and wellbeing is our first imperative. We keep ourselves and others safe. We recognise that good health is a key enabler to good business and contributes enormously to an individual’s sense of health and wellbeing. We make sure people have the support and care they need with the compassion and respect they deserve.

Many people still don’t consider mental health relevant to them and often don’t believe mental health problems are likely to affect them or people they know.

The reality is that mental health can affect anyone.

Around 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem this year yet the shame and silence can be as bad as the mental health problem itself. Your attitude to mental health could change someone’s life.

Hundreds of workplaces are now changing the conversation about mental health. Here at DDC we are – We proudly joined the Time to Change Movement in June 2019.

Time to Change is a growing social movement working to change the way we all think and act about mental health problems.

On 21 October 2019, we proudly signed the Time to Change Employer Pledge, this commitment is supported by our 12 months employer action plan to put in best practice interventions and policy to help our staff work in ways that promote a positive mental wellbeing.

As part of our plan, we have nominated five ‘Time to Change Champions’ in our business to support us in implementing our action plan. Champions are focused on changing attitudes. They create opportunities to start up conversations about mental health, dispel myths and make it easier for people to seek support.

Since signing the pledge, 95% of employers have said it has had a positive impact on their organisation.

Lisa Whitbrook, Managing Director commented, ‘We have made our ongoing commitment to workplace wellbeing and to support all of our people to have open conversations about mental health.  We are delighted to have collaborated with Time to Change and are looking forward to making a meaningful difference moving forward.’
